About Us

Welcome to the Kenya Livestock Commercialization Project (KeLCoP) MIFUGO HUB, a transformative platform dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers and enhancing small stock value chains. With this platform, we aim to bridge the gap between knowledge, markets, and opportunities through innovative digital solutions, driving sustainable agricultural growth. Our platform connects farmers, service providers, and stakeholders, ensuring seamless access to extension services, market information, and business tools.

The e-Extension module is designed to offer farmers timely, relevant, and expert agricultural advice. By leveraging mobile and web technologies, we enable farmers to access best practices, expert consultations, and educational resources at their fingertips. This approach equips users with the knowledge to make informed decisions, improve productivity, and adopt sustainable livestock management practices.

The e-marketing module complements these efforts by facilitating market access and commercial connections. Our platform provides a space where farmers can showcase their products, access real-time market prices, and engage directly with buyers, minimizing the need for intermediaries. Through this integrated solution, KeLCoP ensures that smallholder farmers are better positioned to commercialize their ventures and achieve long-term success in the livestock sector.

Vaccination schedule

A vaccination schedule is very important in indigenous chicken farming because it helps prevent common poultry diseases that can cause high death rates, poor growth, and low egg production. Diseases such as Newcastle disease, Gumboro, fowl pox, and Marek’s disease spread quickly among chickens and can wipe out an entire flock if proper vaccination is not done. Following a vaccination schedule ensures that chickens develop immunity at the right age before they are exposed to infections. This improves their health, productivity, and survival rate. Healthy chickens grow faster, lay more eggs, and provide better income and food security for farmers. Vaccination also reduces the cost of treatment and minimizes losses caused by disease outbreaks. For indigenous chicken farmers, especially small-scale farmers, a proper vaccination program helps maintain a strong and productive flock throughout the year. Therefore, adhering to the recommended vaccination schedule is a key practice in successful poultry management.
